Continuing Professional Development

MHPN is utilising the endorsement and accreditation service provided by each project partner and partner organisation. MHPN has negotiated the following arrangements for Continuing Professional Development points with the following organisations (Click here for Facilitator CPD points):

 

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
Psychiatrists who participate in an MHPN workshop may claim Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit in accordance with the College's annual CPD Guide. Psychiatrists who continue to meet with their networks may claim CPD hours in accordance with the Continuing Professional Development Program Guide.
 
Australian Psychological Society (APS)
For attendance at one MHPN workshop, all APS members can claim 2 General Professional Development points. Members of the College of Health Psychologists can claim 2 Specialist Professional Development points. All APS members can claim 1 Professional Development point for each hour spent in professional development activities in ongoing network meetings. That is, 1 point per hour can be claimed for case study discussion, etc. but not for time spent arranging further meetings or on other organizational matters.
 
Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN)
Attending this MHPN professional networking workshop earns 3 ACMHN Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points per workshop.
 
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
Participants will be awarded 4 Category 2 CPD points for attendance at one MHPN workshop.  Options for GPs to claim QA CPD points for ongoing networking are available. All GPs interested in pursuing these options are encouraged to visit the RACGP website or to consult with their state faculty QA&CPD program coordinator.

Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)  
Members can claim 2 CPE points per learning hour. This is approved til 2011. If a member continues to attend the same network they will accrue 1 point per hour. If they attend multiple workshops, they can claim points for the first workshop only.

OT Australia
By attending this event, you may be able to claim up to 2 CPD points in Category 5 towards your Accredited Occupational Therapist Program CPD Points requirements. Check the CPD section of your AccOT manual.
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) 
Participation in an MHPN workshop contributes to your Continuing Medical Education. Participation in ongoing network meetings may contribute to your Continuing Medical Education provided the meetings are educational.
 
Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
Members will earn 2 core points EEACR 9000. If members would like to continue meeting, they can receive points by completing an application form and sending it to ACRRM. Once approved by the accreditation committee this activity will be good for the rest of the triennium.  For more information visit the ACCRM website.
