MHPN Snapshot: Veterans' mental health

An overview of how MHPN supports practitioners to improve mental health outcomes for veterans and their families.

MHPN welcomes the Federal Government’s recent announcement to establish a Royal Commission into Defence and Veterans Suicide. At MHPN, we recognise the importance of supporting veterans’ mental health and we stand alongside our partner and member organisations in working together to improve support services for veterans and their families across Australia.

To date, we have produced several webinars in partnership with the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) that explore how mental health practitioners can better support veterans and their families. We encourage practitioners to access these veteran-focussed webinars here, or browse the full MHPN webinar library here, to gain practical tips and expert insights from our interdisciplinary panel.

Alongside our webinars, MHPN also supports the ongoing improvement of mental health outcomes for veterans and their families through nine veteran-focussed networks. These networks sit within MHPN's national networks program and provide a regular forum for practitioners working within Australia to connect over a shared interest in supporting veterans' and their families' mental health. We welcome all practitioners to join MHPN's veteran-focussed networks below:
