Free resources to support men's mental health

In acknowledgement of Men's Health Week (14-20 June 2021), we have put together a list of free-to-access online resources to support practitioners in achieving better health outcomes for all men. We encourage practitioners to share with this resource with their networks.

Men's mental health is an important area requiring ongoing and strategic support. According to Beyond Blue, one in eight Australian men will experience depression, with one in five experiencing anxiety in their lifetime. In support of Men's Health Week, we've put together some of our free-to-access online resources to assist practitioners in achieving better health outcomes for all men.

MHPN's online professional development webinar program has covered various topics relating to men’s mental health. All of our webinars are live streamed and free to attend; practitioners can access the live recordings of all past webinars through the MHPN webinar library. To help you get started, here's a list of some of our top webinars that focus on various topics within men's mental health.

  • Prostate cancer – effects on mental health after surgery: in this webinar, our interdisciplinary panel of mental health practitioners and experts discuss how collaborative care can support the mental health of people who are recovering from prostate surgery. Watch this webinar to learn about the key principles and general guidelines that can assist practitioners in providing safe and supportive environments for men experiencing health concerns or distress after surgery.
  • Men’s mental health and wellbeing’: in this webinar, our panel of experts share their insights, practical tips, and strategies to improve outcomes for men who are seeking mental health support. Audiences will hear from an interdisciplinary panel including: a clinical psychologist, a men's mental health advocate, an individual with lived experience, and a general practitioner.

Looking for ways to support ongoing awareness of men's mental health issues within the mental health workforce? We are now accepting applications from Australia-based practitioners who are looking to start and coordinate new interdisciplinary practioner networks focussed on men's mental health. If you're interested, or know someone who would be right for this opportunity, please fill out this form and we'll be in touch.
