NEW Brisbane North Older Persons’ Mental Health Professionals’ Network - Register your interest:

Many older Australians experience psychological or emotional disorders associated with factors linked to ageing, including isolation, loss of independence, loneliness and losses of many kinds including bereavements. Enabling practitioners from different disciplines involved in providing care to older Australians living in the community to work together more effectively will help to improve service delivery, better manage illness and reduce avoidable hospitalisation.

The network provides a platform for interdisciplinary professional development, peer support, and gaining an understanding of how services and individuals can work together to meet the mental health and related needs of the older population. The network plans to meet four times a year, venue/s to be confirmed with each meeting invitation.

Join the new Brisbane Mental Health Practice Journal Club! This network aims to meet every two months in the West End area, and will focus on exploring and exchanging ideas related to the theory and research of psychotherapy and examine their application to mental health practice. Participants will consider a paper provided to them in the preceding month, and meetings will involve a facilitated collaborative group discussion and case study. At this stage the group is planning on meeting Monday 2nd October, so please contact to register your interest.

Metro South Dual Disability MHPN is looking for a member, or group of members, to coordinate the network. Email Holly Carey for more details.  Learn more about being a coordinator.
