Supporting Carers of Older People

17 November 2020  Webinars

Register now to attend this professional development webinar broadcast on Tuesday 1 December 2020, 7.15 – 8.30 pm (AEDT).

This is the second in a series of three webinars focusing on Older Australians, presented by MHPN in partnership with all 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs). Through a case-based discussion, this webinar will explore the needs of older carers of senior Australians from both a medical and non-medical perspective. Our expert panel – including a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and Psychologist - will discuss the mental and physical health needs of older carers including any feelings of grief, loss and social isolation they may be experiencing and how this shapes their experience as carers of older Australians. Their discussion will contextualise the role of different disciplines in supporting older carers with mental, physical health and/or psychosocial issues, and in doing so help improve referral pathways.

The interdisciplinary panel of subject matter experts includes Ms Marika Kontellis (Social Worker), Dr Alison Argo (Psychologist) and Associate Professor Lynette Mackenzie (Occupational Therapist) with Dr Stephen Ginsborg (General Practitioner) as facilitator.
